Captain Nate Smith:
Nate
is a US Coast Guard Licensed 100-ton Master. He spent his
younger years on mountain streams and lakes growing up in
Montana before moving to the Seattle area. He then started
a twelve year career in the crabbing industry out of Dutch
Harbor and Russia in the Bering sea. This is how he discovered
the beauty and ruggedness of Alaska and its why he eventually
moved here nine years ago. He has been working on charter
boats out of Seward for six years. The vast amount of time
he has spent on the water gives him the experience, knowledge
and safety skills to ensure a safe, enjoyable, and fun-filled
day.
Captain Eric
Higbee:
Captain
Eric Higbee was born and raised in Alaska just outside Seward,
in Moose Pass. He first got the itch to fish while in the
second grade when his father bought a charter for the both
of them and young Eric hauled in a one-hundred twenty-five
pound halibut. Eric has worked a variety of positions on
several different vessels in the Seward Charter Fishing
Fleet for eight seasons. The last three seasons Eric has
been making his own decisions about where to go and what
to use since he was promoted to Captain.
Ever since he caught that first 125
lb halibut, he has dreamed of bringing that same enjoyment
to others, and that dream is being fulfilled here at Alaska Coastal Ventures. Eric has been involved
in some amazing catches while working with other companies
and we were thrilled that he brought that knowledge and
success with him to Alaska Coastal Ventures, in 2007. He had a great
season last year and we expect many more productive seasons
to come. He is a customer favorite and clients are eager
to return for more of his successful trips. His enthusiasm,
experience and character are why here at Alaska Coastal Ventures,
we are simply proud to have him aboard.
